Public Service Announcement: Beware of FAKE/malicious Windows 10 upgrade emails from hackers #Windows10

As Microsoft kicked off the free rollout of Windows 10 to millions of qualified Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 users.
Some hackers have decided to take advantage of eager Windows 7/8/8.1 users who are waiting for the Windows 10 upgrade by sending out fake email notifications to unsuspecting users prompting them to download a file (attached to the email) to upgrade to Windows 10, when in fact it doesn't, the file is actually a virus which locks the contents on your PC/Laptop and demands to pay a ransom in order for them to unlock your PC.
This kind of virus is actually called a ransomware and if you download the file this is what you will get...

The email is even sent with an email address that looks authentic: update@microsoft.com

So beware this email, Microsoft will NEVER send you an email with an attachment for you to download.

Please spread the word.
