The last build we got (Build 10051) came a month ago and since then Microsoft has been hard at work getting ready this next build for you to test and provide feedback.
As you most probably know, this is a technical build of the Windows 10 Mobile OS, it is only the 3rd build sofar and as such, it is still very very buggy and I highly recommend not installing this build on the Windows Phone you use daily, instead get a secondary cheap Lumia phone (like the Lumia 635 or 535) and use that to test this latest build. You have been WARNED!
This Build brings with it a whole bunch of new features and most especially new universal apps to play with. Here is a brief rundown of what's included in the build:
New Windows 10 Store (Beta): There is a new Windows Store app (just like the one on Windows 10 for Desktops), it is a new store app redesigned and rewritten as a universal app, so it is the same app that's also running on your Windows 10 Desktop/PC. Be sure to check it out.
New Office suite of Apps: There are also new universal Microsoft Office apps. You can download them from the Windows Store (beta) to check them out.
New Xbox App: There is a new universal Xbox app, revamped UI and ready for use. Has a bunch of cool features like playing game clips and more.
New Music and Video universal apps: The Music and Video apps also got their universal apps made available in this build. Check them out and be sure to leave a feedback.
New Lumia camera app: There is a beta Lumia camera app, it is the same as the Lumia camera beta app Microsoft released recently.
There is now the option to either use full background image or the "image in tile" for your start screen. This is definitely one feature many insiders wanted and it is good to see Microsoft is listening.
Another big news is that HTC One M8 Windows Phone users can now download this latest build on their devices, why they would do that is totally up to them, but like I said, unless it's your secondary device, please do not install this on your phone.
As this is a technical build, there are already known issues, and Microsoft did us a favor to list "some of them out, here is a very brief run through of some of the issues you might encounter...
- Cortana constantly crashes.
- Insider Hub app might not launch
- Duplicate tiles for the same app (especially with universal apps).
- Unable to automatically update apps from the store.
