Leaked Specs: Lumia 1020 successor coming in 2016? Also 2 flagship Lumia later this year

German websites DrWindows.de and WinFuture.de are confirming via their Microsoft sources that the specs we saw last month regarding the 2 anticipated flagship Lumia devices, codenamed: CityMan and TalkMan are in fact true.

They reiterate that the flagship Lumia (codename: TalkMan) will come with:

  • Qualcomm SnapDragon 6 Core Processor (most probably the SnapDragon 808)
  • 5.2inch Quad HD display
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • 20MP Carl Zeiss Pureview Camera
  • 5MP front facing camera
  • 3000mAh Battery
  • and the new USB Type-C port
The flagship Lumia (codename: CityMan) will come with:

  • Qualcomm SnapDragon 8 Core Processor (most probably the SnapDragon 810)
  • 5.7inch Quad HD display
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • 20MP Carl Zeiss Pureview Camera
  • 5MP front facing camera
  • 3300mAh Battery
  • and the new USB Type-C port
So as you can see it looks like the Lumia "CityMan" is a bigger version of the TalkMan. With a bigger battery, more powerful processor and bigger display.
These specs were leaked a few weeks ago, but this time we get to see that the USB Type-C connector port will be used on these devices. These are just rumors though so take them with a pinch of salt.

USB Type-C compared to lighting cable and microUSB
As you can see from the image above, the USB Type-C is a little bigger then Apple's lightning cable connector and the MicroUSD connector, but it s sturdier and can be used in either orientation unlike the MicroUSB where you have to plug it in in a certain direction.

Another interesting bit of news from our German friends is that a Lumia 1020 successor is indeed in the works. No further details are revealed about it other than that it will be released in 2016. The Lumia 1020 with its 41MP camera was released about 2 years ago now and today no phone can beat its imaging prowess. So it makes sense that when Microsoft does release its successor, it should be able to wear that crown well. So that's something to look forward to in 2016.

I don't expect any official word form Microsoft on these upcoming devices until after the launch of Windows 10. SO until then, let us drool on these specs!
