How do the rumored Lumia flagship devices (CityMan & TalkMan) stack up against the competition

With more and more sources confirming the specs for the upcoming flagship Lumia devices (aka CityMan and TalkMan).
It looks like it is safe to say these are the specs for what we will be expecting from Microsoft in terms of flagship devices later this year when Windows 10 Mobile launches.

Here are the specs again, in case you missed it.

The first is the Lumia device (codename: CityMan), the rumored specs are:

  • Qualcomm SnapDragon 8 Core Processor (most probably the SnapDragon 810)
  • 5.7inch Quad HD display
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • 20MP Carl Zeiss Pureview Camera
  • 5MP front facing camera
  • 3300mAh Battery
  • and the new USB Type-C port
And the second, is a smaller Lumia device (codename: TalkMan) with...
  • Qualcomm SnapDragon 6 Core Processor (most probably the SnapDragon 808)
  • 5.2inch Quad HD display
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • 20MP Carl Zeiss Pureview Camera
  • 5MP front facing camera
  • 3000mAh Battery
  • and the new USB Type-C port

These are good specs for a flagship phone in 2015.

Take for instance the Samsung S6, It has a
Exynos 7420, Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57
5.1inch 2560x1440 resolution (QHD)

3GB RAM
32GB/64GB/128GB internal storage
16MP rear camera camera
5MP front facing camera
2550mAh Battery
MicroUSB charging port

As you can see, the Lumia CityMan and TalkMan look better spec-wise when compared to the S6. They have a 20MP camera which should be able to record 4K video (the Lumia 930 already does this), both also have bigger batteries at 3000mAh and 3300mAh while the S6 has 2550mAh battery. Though all of them are powered by hexa-core CPUs, except the "TalkMan" is rumored to have a 6-core processor. The Lumia's will have the new USB Type-C connector port, while the S6 has the standard MicroUSB port. While the S6 has no microSD card slot neither is the battery removable, we cannot confirm if the Lumia flagships will have removable batteries or a MicroSD card slot.
So Microsoft's flagship devices based on these rumored specs look good (actually better) compared to the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Next is the HTC One M9, it has got..
Qualcomm SnapDragon 810 CPU
5 inch 1920x1080 resolution HD display
32GB internal storage
3GB RAM
20MP rear facing camera
4MP front facing camera
2840mAh battery

The M9's CPU matches what is rumored to be on the Lumia CityMan, a SnapDragon 810 processor. all other specs look identical to the Lumia flagships, except the M9 has a 4MP front facing camera and a 2840mAh battery, while the Lumia duo have 5MP camera up front and battery 3000mAh or more.

Lastly, let's look at the LG G4 which was recently announced.
Qualcomm SnapDragon 808
5.5 inch 2560x1440 resolution HD display
32GB internal storage
3GB RAM
16MP main camera
8MP front facing camera
3000mAh battery

Looking at the G4 specs, it is like a mashup of the Lumia CityMan and Talkman.
The SnapDragon 808 (6-core processor) same rumored on the talkMan, a 5.5 inch display that is only 2 inches smaller than the 5.7 inch display on the CityMan. It has also got the same 3000mAh battery capacity as on the Lumia TalkMan also. All have 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM. The major difference is how the cameras on both sides of the G4 are almost even, with a 16MP on the back and 8MP on the front compared to 20MP back and 5MP front on the Lumia duo.

Let's not forget that though Microsoft will announce these Lumia flagships later this year, they will NOT be the only flagship devices running Windows 10 Mobile.
I expect to see flagships from HTC (One M9 for windows), a Samsung flagship, maybe one from Lenovo and who knows we could see LG join the Windows party as well.

In conclusion, this year's flagship devices are configured with SnapDragon 810/808 (8/6 core) processors, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage (with option for external storage in MicroSD card slot), HD display and cameras capable of recording HD and 4K video.
It is pleasing to know that this time Microsoft will not be lagging behind in terms of flagship hardware (something they have done in the past).

So what do you think?
Are you satisfied with the specs that are being reported for these couple of flagship Lumia devices from Microsoft?
Or do you want something more?
