Nokia's set to rejoin smartphone market in 2016 with Android phones?

Possibly the biggest rumour of the month of April; According to recode.net, Nokia is going to release smartphones in 2016 running Android.
In case, you do not know, Microsoft bought Nokia's smartphone making division a couple of years ago and Microsoft also bought the rights to the Nokia brand name on smartphones until 2016, the implication is that Nokia can't manufacture smartphones until 2016.
However, since Microsoft's acquisition, Nokia has gone ahead and released an Android tablet; The N1 which is powered by Android and runs Nokia's popular Z launcher.
This launch of this tablet last year drove the speculation that Nokia wasn't done with the mobile market just yet and were waiting for the Microsoft rights restrictions to end in 2016 before they released a smartphone again.

But with Nokia's recent $16.6 Billion acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent, and the potential sale of Nokia's HERE maps services, it is hard to see how Nokia would be planning to come back to the mobile scene.

recode.net cited sources within Nokia for this news/rumour but I advise these be taken with a pinch of salt. As things stand, there is no logical or rational or financial reason why Nokia would want to come back to the smartphone market.
