Nokia has been putting in a lot of work on its HERE Maps service ever since it sold its mobile division to Microsoft.
Today, they announced an update to the Maps service, bringing it to 18 new countries:
Appart from bringing their Voice navigation service to these countries.
This updates spreads across its HERE Maps, Drive+, Transit and City Lens apps for Windows and Windows Phones.
So they entire suite of HERE apps will be updated with stability and performance improvements. The apps will also now be free for ALL Windows Phones (not just Lumia anymore).
If you have been using HERE Maps in the past and are currently still using it, then this next piece of info is for you.
A new HERE account will be used to store all your collections (collections is where you saved your favorite addresses, places, locations) and with this new HERE account, once you are signed into any device running HERE Maps service (tablet, PC or phone), your collections will sync across, so you have access to all your favorite places.
Once you update any of your HERE apps, you will be prompted to set up a HERE account and have your collections imported.
