Nokia announced plans today to acquire imaging firm Scalado to enhance the cameras on its Windows Phone smartphone range.
Jo Harlow, EVP of smart devices at Nokia said, "Nokia has been working with Scalado for more than ten years and they've contributed to many of our leading imaging applications. This transaction would enable us to combine our leadership in camera devices with their expertise in imaging, helping people move beyond taking pictures to capturing moments and emotions and then reliving them in many different ways."
Hakan Persson, CEO of Scalado said, "This is a great opportunity for many of our people to show their leadership in imaging and to continue to build its future."
Recently imaging firm Scalado announced a neat bit of technology called Scalado Remove (above), which lets you remove passers-by from images by simply tapping a smartphone screen. It was thought that the app would come out for Android devices, but this feature is now expected to be available exclusively on the Lumia line.
