Leaked Photos: new Nokia Asha 306 (All Touch UI with swipe)

The Nokia Asha 306 is an S40 running device with an all touch UI, and whats even more interesting about it is that it uses swipe gestures similar to that seen on the Nokia N9.

According to UnWired, (who got the user manual for the 306) the Nokia Asha 306 will be announced sometime in July, the phone will feature 3 Homescreens:

  • the “My screen” for favorites, contacts and shortcuts
  • the “App screen”
  • and the “Dialler screen”, which is customizable and can be replaced with music player or radio

It will also feature the drop-down menu seen on Android and Nokia Belle devices; This drop down menu will allow you to:
  • see if you have missed calls or unread messages
  • change the profile, for example, to silence your phone
  • open the music player, for example, to pause the currently playing song
  • open or close mobile data internet connections
  • check for Wi-Fi networks, and connect to them
  • switch Bluetooth on or off

The Nokia 306 will come close to par with existing smartphone, as it will introduce multi touch gestures, like pinch-to-zoom.

Nokia 306 Components will include:

GSM connectivity,
Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth,
a 3.5mm headset jack,
a camera of unknown resolution on the back,
Micro USB port,
and hot-swappable MicroSD card slot supporting cards up to 32GB.

Nokia has really stepped up their game in terms of their low end devices, Nokia 306 and any other phone like it should be the first all touch S40 device if I am not mistaken.
I guess Nokia is on the road to the "next billion"
