Windows MarketPlace reaches 50,000 apps + Nokia's own VIP area in WP7 marketplace + Lumia 900 for only at&t?

marketplace 50,000apps & counting

Windows Phone's Marketplace is reported to have 50,000apps, with 6000 of them yet to be activated, as reported by WP7applist. It's a store that started with 1000 apps in its first week of launch, it has seen tremendous growth within 1 year of its launch, most of this growth came this year, especially with the release of WP7 mango update, compared to nokia's store which has over 100,000 apps though this is for all nokia platforms devices (symbian S40, S60v5, S^3 Maemo, and Meego ).
this is good news, especially since the number of apps in your store factors in on how desirable your phone is, as WP7 gains momentum this forthcoming year, Nokia's already strong presence in the smartphone business and with the introduction of Nokia's line up of windows devices, expect this number to double in months to come.
nokia collection in wp7 marketplace

Speaking of Nokia, Nokia now has its own VIP area in windows marketplace, conveniently called "Nokia Collection" which showcases apps specific for just Nokia devices (most are already pre-installed on Nokia Lumia 800 710), apps like maps, pulse etc, this gives Nokia an edge over other WP7 makers HTC, Samsung, LG..

Nokia is also set to launch its much anticipated Lumia 900 on at&t network and not verizon as previously rumoured, this comes as no surprise to me as i already know verizon is incapable of running WP7 LTE on its verizon network, it should however be able to support it once the WP7 tango update is available, so expect verizon Nokia LTE WP7 later in 2012.
